At Practice Yoga, we have a variety of styles for you to choose from: Vinyasa, Iyengar, Yin and Hatha.
All classes are donation based except ellen’s classes which are $2o drop in or $180 for 10 classes.

Ellen Greenberg - Iyengar

Ellen has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and has had the honor of teaching for over 20 years. She began her Iyengar studies in 2001 and has traveled to India numerous times to study at the Institute in Pune with the Iyengar family. She opened Practice Yoga Studio in 2002 and is excited for the new incarnation as a cooperative space. Ellen believes the practice of yoga should bring joy and awareness to one’s life and tries to encourage this in her classes.

Lindsey Gill- Hatha flow
RYT-200
Lindsey began practicing yoga in her teens to cope with the stress of school. While attending college in Philadelphia for art, Lindsey saved up to become a certified yoga teacher in 2021 through Three Queens Yoga.
Lindsey now teaches group class Wednesday evenings at Practice Yoga, and offers private sessions to those who request them. She also started working with the nonprofit Yoga4Philly in October 2022 to bring yoga to elementary school children in Kensington.
Lindsey starts every class with an open heart and the mindset that her students are also her teachers—she believes her path as a teacher will always be shaped and inspired by the people she meets along the way.

Emily Houwen - Vinyasa
Emily is a registered nurse, yoga instructor and practitioner. She completed her 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Habit in May 2022. Through her own practice, Emily has developed a deeper sense of self, greater confidence, and a more present mind. She was inspired to teach yoga in order to share its many benefits with others in an accessible way. She teaches vinyasa flow with a focus on breath, intentional movement, and yoga philosophy. She aims to help students take their practice off the mat to create a more peaceful and joyful life.

Lauren Haimerl - Vinyasa
Lauren specializes in Vinyasa yoga, offering classes suitable for all levels. She began teaching at Practice Yoga in the spring of 2022, after completing her 200-hour training in Marlton, NJ. Her goal is to create a warm and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to explore the power of yoga. Beyond the mat, She also loves practicing acrobatics and photography. She looks forward to flowing with you!

Kevin Martinez - Vinyasa
Kevin is a multifaceted individual whose journey has taken him from the realms of U.S. Special Forces to the tranquil landscapes of yoga practice. Discovering yoga as a respite from the confines of his work-from-home life two years ago, Kevin's passion for this ancient practice has led him on a transformative path. Recently, he embarked on a journey to Costa Rica to pursue his 200-hour yoga teacher certification, seeking to deepen his understanding and share the benefits of yoga with others. Kevin believes the world could be a better place if yoga and meditation spread through humanity.

Sid Shigematsu - Yin & Breathwork
Sid (they/them) began exploring the wonderful world of yoga in 2002, and as a wee child fell in love with the restorative and expansive practice of breath and moment. Raised in a Tai Chi and dance family, meditative movement practice was second nature to the child growing up in Manhattan’s East Village. In high school, Sid discovered Yoga To the People, the iconic donation based Vinyasa studio on Saint Marks place, and from then onwards, their ethos of financially accessible yoga was adopted. In 2015/2016 they worked at o2 yoga studio in Cambridge, MA and was introduced to Ashtanga and Power flow. Professionally, Sid is a Certified Massage Therapist, Tai Chi teacher, and Somatic healer. They are currently pursuing their RYT 200. Sid is ecstatic to be joining the Practice Yoga Co-op as a Yin and Breathwork teacher, and to be offering a class with full Covid prevention protocols. They believe strongly in everyone’s right to access restorative healthcare practices, community, and clean air.

Leo Henry - Gentle yoga
Leo (they/them) is a passionate yoga teacher with a 200-hour certification earned in 2018 under the guidance of Anne Falkowski in Manchester, Connecticut. Leo started their yoga journey in 2012 and established a regular practice in 2014. Leo brings a wealth of experience and dedication to their teaching. With a strong background in mental health activism, they have worked alongside organizations like Toivo and Advocacy Unlimited in New Britain, CT, and served as a crisis counselor for the international Crisis Text Line. In their work with Toivo, Leo presented at the Alternatives Conference in 2017 on the power of contemplative practices in supporting mental health, as well as creating the first peer-based LGBT support group of its kind in the state. Leo is trained in and deeply committed to trauma-informed yoga. Through their studies at Three Queens Yoga, they have developed training programs in trauma-informed approaches, aiming to create inclusive spaces for individuals with diverse needs. As a student of the Three Queens 300-hour program, Leo harnesses the transformative power of yoga to manage their own chronic pain and illnesses, including fibromyalgia, POTS, hormonal imbalances, PTSD, and migraines. With a vision of promoting yoga accessibility beyond traditional studio settings and advocating for a more just world through yoga and activism, Leo seeks to inspire and empower others on their wellness journey.

Shay Mosley
Shay is a fierce self-care/mental health advocate who educates and inspires others on best practices for living an easeful, more balanced life. After years of working in high-demand corporate roles, being deprived of rest and experiencing burnout, she found healing and restoration in practicing yoga and mindfulness. Her journey ignited a passion to help others and in addition to teaching yoga, she uses her gifts as a sound practitioner and holistic health coach as tools to help others destress and connect with their bodies and breath to find deep rest and healing. Her desire is to help all beings discover balance and vitality through practices that allow rest and offer rejuvenation for the mind, body and soul.

Loren Thomas - Vinyasa
Loren has been a scholar, teacher, school administrator, and college faculty member over the course of his 46 year career in education. A lifelong athlete, Loren is now an avid trail runner, and recently completed his 100th marathon. He both practices and teaches yoga. He currently teaches yoga at different locations in Philadelphia and Colombia and is an instructor at a YTT in Peru. Primarily he teaches yoga as a form of service and focuses on teaching to underserved populations in Philadelphia.
He is a lifelong meditator and has done several trainings in meditation. He finds the blend of running, yoga, and meditation to be satisfying and important aspects of a healthy lifestyle.
As an academic and philosopher, Loren loves yoga philosophy and its rich literature. He constantly tries to find ways to apply the rich teachings of yoga to our current daily lives.
Loren found yoga in 1997 after bicycling across the US. For Loren, yoga brought together the athletic, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions of life. He has completed his 200 and 300 hour teacher trainings and has done additional training in Anusara yoga, wall vinyasa, trauma informed yoga and yoga philosophy. He is excited to share his passion for yoga, along with his commitment to health and fitness and mindfulness.

Rosy Elliot
Rosy has been practicing yoga for over 40 years and finally took the plunge into teacher training in 2015, completing her 300 hour advanced training in 2019. Her teaching style is clear and inclusive, encouraging students of all levels to find their own way into the practice with the intention of becoming embodied and empowered. In her own life yoga is a limitless source of grounding, inspiration, transformation, and joy.
Rosy is inspired by the mission of Yoga 4 Philly, to make peace, love and healing accessible through yoga and meditation and honored to share her passion for the practice with the Philadelphia community.
Rosy is also a certified professional coach and sees yoga as a powerful vehicle for healing and a means for increasing awareness, clearing obstacles, uncovering your truth and ultimately, evolving into your highest and most whole expression.

Emily Moses - Yin
Emily is a yoga instructor, visual artist, and Landscape Architecture graduate student.
Her classes incorporate movement and sequencing that draw from Yoga as well as a variety of other movement practices. She believes in using Yogic practice as a tool to be with the body and find community and connection with others. Emily received her 200 RYT from Yess Yoga in Minneapolis, MN.

Carrie Leibrand - Vinyasa
As instructor and practitioner, Carrie holds space for creative expression without expectation. She received her 200-hour certification in Baptiste Power Vinyasa yoga from Yoga Habit in May 2022. Encouraged by her love for continued yoga education, Carrie also completed a 30-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at the Well Studio and a 14-hour Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training with the Transformation Yoga Project in September 2022. She provides a trauma-informed practice of mindful movement that is supportive to all levels of yoga experience. She aims to create a comfortable and empowering space for students to explore their own unique journey, in community. Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certified through the American Red Cross.
